The Enlightenment Express: Bodh Gaya, Nalanda and Rajgir

TOUR RATING
New on Evynx

A fly-in Bodh Gaya pilgrimage via Gaya airport, skipping the Patna road transfer.

About this tour

A four-day fly-in pilgrimage built around Gaya's own airport, cutting out the road transfer from Patna entirely for travellers on a tighter schedule. The route lands you straight into Bodh Gaya for two nights around the Mahabodhi Temple and its international monastery quarter, a single day trip out to Nalanda and Rajgir, and a final night in Gaya city for the Vishnupad Temple before flying home. Built as a faster, Gaya-airport alternative to the fuller Bihar Buddhist circuit, for international pilgrims and time-constrained families who want the core sites without the extra Patna and Vaishali legs.

Highlights

  • The Mahabodhi Temple - a 55-metre brick spire over the exact spot of the Buddha's enlightenment
  • The Bodhi Tree - meditation beneath a direct descendant of Buddha's original tree
  • Bodh Gaya's international monastery quarter - Bhutanese, Thai and Japanese temples in one town
  • Nalanda's Sariputra Stupa - red-brick ruins of the world's first residential university
  • Vishnupad Temple - Lord Vishnu's footprint and Gaya's ancient Pinda Daan tradition
