About this tour

Haflong is Assam's only hill station - a quiet colonial-era retreat in the Dima Hasao hills at 700 metres, reached by one of the most scenic train journeys in Northeast India. The Vistadome glass-roof tourist carriage climbs through 39+ railway tunnels, hairpin viaducts over forest gorges, and beside waterfalls on the Lumding hill section - a 6-7 hour journey that makes the arrival feel earned. The hill station itself is anchored by Haflong Lake, a natural lake at the centre of town where mornings bring low mist and kingfishers work the shallows. Nine kilometres south, Jatinga village carries one of India's most puzzling ecological phenomena: every September-October, on dark foggy evenings, hundreds of migratory and resident birds fly into this specific ridge and appear completely disoriented - striking the ground and buildings between 7-10 PM. The phenomenon has been studied by ornithologists including Dr Anwaruddin Choudhury but has never been fully explained. The birdwatching tower and local guides carry the science and the mystery year-round. The circuit also takes in Fiangpui hilltop church - a colonial viewpoint with a panoramic sweep across multiple Dima Hasao valley ridges - and a guided walk through a traditional Dimasa village. The Dimasa Kachari community, historically rooted in this district, maintains a distinct textile, dance, and culinary tradition that sets Dima Hasao apart from the Assamese plains culture 338 km away. Available October to April. Not available June-September - landslides on the Dima Hasao mountain roads make access unsafe.

The Vistadome glass-roof carriage departs Guwahati in the morning and spends 6-7 hours climbing through the Barail Range - tunnels, viaducts, and waterfalls through the roof panel. Arrive Haflong in the afternoon for a Dimasa lunch and the lake walk at golden hour.

Jatinga Bird Ridge, Fiangpui Valley Panorama & Dimasa Village Walk

Evynx Tours are listed as either Group Tour (fixed departure) or Private Tour (custom/private arrangement). Refund tiers depend on the tour type:

  • More than 21 days before departure: 90% refund
  • 14–21 days before departure: 75% refund

  • 3–7 days before departure: 25% refund
  • Less than 72 hours / No-show: No refund

  • More than 30 days before departure: 90% refund
  • 21–30 days before departure: 75% refund
  • 14–21 days before departure: 50% refund

Note: "No-show" includes failure to report at the designated meeting/boarding time.

Rescheduling & Name Change

  • Rescheduling eligibility: If rescheduling is offered for your Tour, it will be shown at checkout or in your booking confirmation.
  • Reschedule policy: Reschedule requests are subject to availability on the requested date. Differential price will be charged extra.
  • Name change (Group Tours): Name changes may be allowed up to 48 hours before departure, subject to operator ID/permit rules.

Operator / Evynx-Initiated Cancellation

If a Tour is cancelled by the operator or Evynx:

  • You will receive a 100% refund, or
  • You may choose a free reschedule (if available).

Your choice will be provided in the booking support flow.

Weather, Safety, and Force Majeure

If a Tour is disrupted due to weather, road closures, government restrictions, safety advisories, natural events, or similar circumstances:

  • First preference is rescheduling (no extra charge where possible).
  • If rescheduling is not possible, we will refund depending on:
    • If the Tour has not started: 100% refund
    • If the Tour has already started: Pro-rata refund (unused days/activities) minus any non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred.

Non-Refundable Components

Permits, entry tickets, special passes, or third-party reservations made in the traveler's name may be non-refundable once issued or booked.

Refund Timelines

  • Evynx processes eligible refunds within 24–48 hours of approval.
  • Banks/UPI may take 3–10 business days to reflect the amount.
