The drive follows NH275 west from Bangalore - expressway to Mysore, then plantation country toward Kushalnagar where the Cauvery widens, before the final 35 km climb into Madikeri. A mid-morning departure lands you at the homestay by mid-afternoon, with time to rest before the short walk into town for the evening's temple visit.

Arrival, and the temple at the town's heart

You leave Bangalore for the Kodagu highlands, settle into a homestay near Madikeri, and close the day at Omkareshwara Temple as the evening lamps are lit.

The Path Ahead

The road east to Bylakuppe is a 35 km drive through plantation and paddy country, about 45 minutes each way. You reach Namdroling by mid-morning, when the main hall is often open for study or recitation, and the afternoon stays inside the settlement rather than rushing back to Madikeri.

Second night at the same Madikeri homestay - the return to a familiar room after a day among prayer halls and settlement lanes lets the day settle rather than end abruptly. Evenings here are quiet, with the family's own routine visible from the veranda.

Prayer halls and settlement rhythm

A full day at Bylakuppe - the gold-roofed halls of Namdroling Monastery and the wider Tibetan settlement around it, with time to sit in the main prayer hall rather than pass through.

Special Notes: Namdroling's main hall closes for a midday break; footwear comes off at the threshold, and flash photography is not permitted inside.

The Path Ahead

Bhagamandala is 35 km from Madikeri on a winding road through coffee and cardamom estates, about an hour each way. Arriving by mid-morning gives the ghat time to itself before the day's pilgrim traffic builds - priests are usually conducting ablution rituals at the steps, and the mixed Kerala-Karnataka style temple complex rewards sitting with rather than passing through.

The three-river confluence

A slow day at Bhagamandala, where the Cauvery meets the Kannike and the subterranean Sujyoti at a working pilgrimage ghat - time to sit at the steps rather than move straight through.

The road climbs 8 km above Bhagamandala through Brahmagiri's shola forest to Talakaveri at 1,276 metres. A short stair climb leads to the stepped source tank and hilltop Vigneshwara temple; the descent returns you to the homestay by early afternoon, with the rest of the day left open.

Fourth and final night at the homestay - the source visit closes the pilgrimage arc, and the afternoon is deliberately unscheduled. Read on the veranda, walk the market lane, or simply rest before tomorrow's departure.

Ascent to the source

A gentle climb through Brahmagiri shola forest to Talakaveri, the Cauvery's source spring at 1,276 metres, followed by an open afternoon back at the homestay.

Special Notes: The Talakaveri stair climb is short but has no railing in places; allow extra time if visiting around Tula Sankramana in mid-October, the year's busiest pilgrimage day.

Checkout after breakfast, then a short walk to Madikeri Fort - a Haleri-era mud fort rebuilt in brick by Tipu Sultan, with a colonial chapel whose Hindu-style gopuram bell tower echoes the same syncretic pattern as Omkareshwara. From there the route descends via Kushalnagar and NH275 back to Bangalore.

Cancellation & Refunds Policy

This policy applies to all Journeys booked on Evynx, unless a specific journey page clearly states a different policy ("Special Policy"). By booking a Journey, you agree to the terms below.

Risk-Free 24-Hour Cancellation (Evynx Promise)

For all the Journeys, you may cancel free of charge within 24 hours of Booking Time, provided the Journey departure is at least 7 days away.

Standard Cancellation Refunds (Journeys)

Evynx Journeys are listed as either Group Journey (fixed departure) or Private Journey (custom/private arrangement). Refund tiers depend on the journey type:

Group Journeys (Fixed-Departure)

  • More than 21 days before departure: 90% refund
  • 14–21 days before departure: 75% refund
  • 7–14 days before departure: 50% refund
  • 3–7 days before departure: 25% refund
  • Less than 72 hours / No-show: No refund

Private Journeys

  • More than 30 days before departure: 90% refund
  • 21–30 days before departure: 75% refund
  • 14–21 days before departure: 50% refund
  • 7–14 days before departure: 25% refund
  • Less than 7 days / No-show: No refund

Note: "No-show" includes failure to report at the designated meeting/boarding time.

Rescheduling & Name Change

  • Rescheduling eligibility: If rescheduling is offered for your Journey, it will be shown at checkout or in your booking confirmation.
  • Reschedule policy: Reschedule requests are subject to availability on the requested date. Differential price will be charged extra.
  • Name change (Group Journeys): Name changes may be allowed up to 48 hours before departure, subject to operator ID/permit rules.

Operator / Evynx-Initiated Cancellation

If a Journey is cancelled by the operator or Evynx:

  • You will receive a 100% refund, or
  • You may choose a free reschedule (if available).

Your choice will be provided in the booking support flow.

Weather, Safety, and Force Majeure

If a Journey is disrupted due to weather, road closures, government restrictions, safety advisories, natural events, or similar circumstances:

  • First preference is rescheduling (no extra charge where possible).
  • If rescheduling is not possible, we will refund depending on:
    • If the Journey has not started: 100% refund
    • If the Journey has already started: Pro-rata refund (unused days/activities) minus any non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred.

Non-Refundable Components

Permits, entry tickets, special passes, or third-party reservations made in the traveler's name may be non-refundable once issued or booked.

Refund Timelines

  • Evynx processes eligible refunds within 24–48 hours of approval.
  • Banks/UPI may take 3–10 business days to reflect the amount.
