Pushpagiri's Five Temples and Tadipatri's Pillars

A journey from the sacred riverbank to the resonant musical pillars.

Journey RatingNew on Evynx

Operated by Evynx Curated

About this journey

A six-day, five-night private journey based at Gandikota that keeps the canyon fort and Belum Caves at the heart of the trip, then gives Pushpagiri's five surviving temples a genuine dedicated day instead of a stop folded into the arrival drive, and separates Tadipatri's musical-pillar temples from the canyon's adventure activity so neither is rushed. The canyon fort and Belum Caves stay at the centre; Pushpagiri and Tadipatri are simply lifted out of the drive-day rush and each given room. Every night is a private stay, and the pace stays unhurried throughout.

Is this journey for you?

We believe the right journey is about alignment, not persuasion.

Ideally, yes if...
  • check_circleYou want Pushpagiri's full five-temple complex given a genuine day, not a stop on the arrival drive
  • check_circleYou'd rather Tadipatri's temples and the canyon adventure activity be two separate, unhurried days
  • check_circleYou're drawn to landscape drama - the canyon, the caves - as much as heritage depth
  • check_circleYou want one dedicated adventure activity without it competing with a day trip
May not be for you if...
  • cancelYou want the tighter three-day version of either existing route
  • cancelYou're not particularly drawn to multiple day-trip excursions from a single base
  • cancelYou'd rather skip the adventure activity entirely

Gandikota(6D)
Gandikota's canyon and fort, plus caves and two heritage day trips, unhurried

Gandikota Fort and the Pennar gorge, a full day at Belum Caves, a dedicated day for Pushpagiri's five temples, a separate day for Tadipatri's musical pillars, and a canyon-side adventure activity, each its own day.

Below, you'll find how this journey unfolds - day by day, guided by people who live it.

Essence of Flow

route

The Path Ahead

Kadapa has its own airport and railway station, a considerably closer gateway than the alternate Tirupati approach. Canyon-edge viewpoints have no safety railings - stay well back from the rim, especially as light fades.

bedtime

The Evening's Sanctuary

Check into a Premium tented resort perched at Gandikota's canyon rim, first of five nights based here for the whole trip.

restaurant

Flavours of the Land

Only dinner is included today, taken at the resort after the canyon-rim sunset viewing; earlier meals are self-planned before arrival.

Day 01
Night: Gandikota·Drive: 2-4 hrs·Pace: Relaxed
Meeting Time: 7:00 AM
Meeting point: Shared after booking

Arrival & Canyon Sunset

The shorter drive from Kadapa to Gandikota - roughly 85 km, about 90 minutes - followed by check-in and an evening at the unfenced canyon-rim viewpoints for sunset over the Pennar gorge.

Kadapa arrival · Gandikota check-in · canyon rim sunset

Special Notes: The Kadapa-Gandikota drive is a short 85 km; the canyon-rim viewpoints are unfenced, so the Pennar-gorge sunset is best watched with care from a steady spot.
route

The Path Ahead

Roughly 160 km round trip from Gandikota. Pushpagiri is revered as Madhya Ahobilam by Vaishnavas and Madhya Kailasam by Saivas, and sees relatively few outside visitors.

bedtime

The Evening's Sanctuary

Second night at the same Premium tented resort on Gandikota's canyon rim, unpacked and settled after the Pushpagiri round trip.

restaurant

Flavours of the Land

Breakfast at the resort; packed lunch en route; dinner at the resort.

Day 02
Night: Gandikota·Drive: 2-4 hrs·Pace: Balanced
Meeting Time: 8:30 AM

Pushpagiri's Temple Day

A full day trip to Pushpagiri, a 7th-century temple complex on the Penna river once home to over a hundred shrines. All five surviving temples - Chennakesava, Indranatheswara, Bhimeswara, Trikuteswara and Vaidyanatheswara - get real time here, not a stop on the arrival drive.

Pushpagiri's five surviving temples · a full dedicated day

Special Notes: Pushpagiri's five temples sit by the Penna river about 80 km off, best given an early start; the carved stone reads clearest in morning light before the day heats up.
route

The Path Ahead

Unfenced viewpoints in most sections of the gorge rim - supervise children closely, and allow extra time for the fort's uneven stone stairways.

bedtime

The Evening's Sanctuary

Third night at the same Premium tented resort on Gandikota's canyon rim, with the fort's ramparts explored earlier in the day.

restaurant

Flavours of the Land

Breakfast and dinner at the resort; lunch is self-planned during the day at Gandikota Fort.

Day 03
Night: Gandikota·Drive: 0-2 hrs·Pace: Relaxed
Meeting Time: 8:30 AM
Meeting point: At hotel in Gandikota

Gandikota Fort Day

A full day at Gandikota Fort - the Kakatiya-era gateways and ramparts, the Jamia Masjid from a later Muslim period, the Madhava Swamy Temple's Vijayanagara-era shrine, and the fort's granary tower, closing with the gorge-edge viewpoints.

Gandikota Fort · Jamia Masjid · Pennar gorge viewpoints

Special Notes: Gandikota Fort's ramparts and gorge viewpoints are best walked early, as the Deccan sun turns the open stone fierce by midday with little shade among the ruins.
route

The Path Ahead

Roughly 60 km one-way from Gandikota. Cave interior temperatures stay cool year-round, a welcome break from the surface heat.

bedtime

The Evening's Sanctuary

Fourth night at the same Premium tented resort on Gandikota's canyon rim, after a cool afternoon underground at Belum Caves.

Belum Caves Day

A full day trip to Belum Caves, India's second-longest cave system, with a guided walk through its stalactite passages and the Meditation Hall once used by Buddhist and Jain ascetics between the 1st and 5th centuries CE.

Belum Caves · Meditation Hall

Special Notes: Belum Caves run deep and get warm and humid inside, so a morning visit is more comfortable; the passages involve low, stooping stretches underground.
route

The Path Ahead

Roughly 160 km round trip from Gandikota, in the same design tradition as Hampi's Vittala temple.

bedtime

The Evening's Sanctuary

Fifth night at the same Premium tented resort on Gandikota's canyon rim, the last full night before the adventure morning and departure.

Tadipatri's Pillar Temples

A full day trip to Tadipatri, a Vijayanagara-era temple town - the Bugga Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, where seven stone pillars ring musical notes, and the Chintala Venkataramana Swamy Temple with its own pillars and a carved stone chariot, given its own unhurried day.

Tadipatri's musical pillar temples · a day of their own

Special Notes: Tadipatri's musical pillars at the Bugga Ramalingeswara temple ring best when a guide demonstrates; the carved stone reads clearest in the morning before midday heat.
