Below, you'll find how this journey unfolds - day by day, guided by people who live it.
Private SUV departs Delhi before dawn on NH44 north, branching at Pathankot into the Kangra Valley and climbing to McLeodganj by evening.
Check into a premium boutique hotel in McLeodganj, first of four nights here, the town's cafe lane just a short walk away.
Breakfast and lunch self-planned en route; dinner on McLeodganj's main lane - momos and butter tea.
The long private drive from Delhi runs through Chandigarh and the Kangra Valley foothills, the Dhauladhar range rising as the road climbs toward McLeodganj. Arrival brings cooler air at 1,457 m, cafe signs and monastery windows lighting the main lane after dark.

Breakfast at your hotel; lunch in the Tibetan quarter (thukpa, tingmo); dinner at your hotel.
A morning at the Tsuglagkhang Complex, the Dalai Lama's monastery, before the crowds - the prayer hall's jewelled Buddha and the prayer-wheel kora. The Tibet Museum's exile rooms follow, then an afternoon in the Tibetan quarter's market lanes for thangkas and singing bowls.

Breakfast at your hotel; lunch near Bhagsu; dinner on McLeodganj's main lane.
A morning trail to Bhagsu Nag Falls' two-stage cascade and the Shiva Cafe's terrace above it, then the 1852 St. John in the Wilderness Church in its deodar forest setting. The evening closes at Naddi Viewpoint, where the Dhauladhar snowpeaks catch the last light.

The day the standard circuit admits it can't fit in: a 9 km trek with 900 m elevation gain to Triund, the ridge above Dharamkot at 2,842 m, for the Dhauladhar's best front-on view. The climb crosses oak and rhododendron forest to a rocky stretch above treeline before descending.
