EXPERIENCE RATING
New on EvynxA river-island Jyotirlinga, its mainland twin shrine and an evening Narmada aarti.
About this experience
A guided day at Omkareshwar, where the Narmada bends around Mandhata Island in a shape said to trace the sacred Om symbol. Your guide walks you across the pedestrian suspension bridge built in 2003, the main route onto the island today, to Omkareshwar Temple, one of India's twelve Jyotirlingas. The day continues to Mamleshwar Temple on the mainland bank, the shrine tradition holds as the Jyotirlinga's other half - inscribed stonework here dates to 1063 AD, and pilgrimage custom says the darshan is complete only after visiting both. The day closes at the Narmada ghats for the evening aarti, with an optional boat ride for the traditional parikrama around the island.
