- Trekking shoes with ankle support mandatory - trail is rocky and wet even in dry season
- Full rain gear year-round - Kudremukh receives 6,000+ mm annual rainfall
- Valid government photo ID for the Forest Department permit
- Minimum moderate fitness - 22 km with 1,300 m elevation gain over 8-9 hours

- Trekking poles for the steep descent sections
- Leech socks or salt - leeches active May to November

Rules & entry
- Forest Department guide is mandatory - no independent entry into the park
- 5:30 AM trailhead start is fixed - the gate opens at first light
