EXPERIENCE RATING
New on EvynxA guided forest trek through Mookambika NP to the 1,343 m Kodachadri summit.
About this experience
A full-day guided trek to Kodachadri Peak for travellers already based in Shivamogga - a 13-14 km forest trail through Mookambika National Park's shola-grassland to the 1,343-metre Sarvajna Peetha summit. The trail from the Nittur checkpost climbs roughly 700 metres through wet evergreen forest with stream crossings, opening onto a windswept ridge with coastal and Ghats panoramas on clear days. A local trekking guide handles the Mookambika NP permit paperwork at the checkpost and leads the 7-8 hour round trip, with a private vehicle covering the 95-km drive each way from Shivamogga.
Highlights
- Kodachadri Peak - 1,343 m Sarvajna Peetha summit reached via a 13-14 km forest round trip
- Mookambika National Park - shola-grassland trail with Malabar trogon and giant squirrel sightings
- Summit Ridge Panorama - coastal plains to the west, Ghats ridgelines north and south on clear days
