Tsuglagkhang Complex is the Dalai Lama's residence monastery and the spiritual centre of the Tibetan government-in-exile, its main prayer hall holding a jewelled Shakyamuni Buddha behind a corridor of hand-turned prayer wheels. This guide-only day stays inside walking distance of central McLeodganj - no vehicle, no Dharamkot detour - just a walking guide through the monastery, the adjoining Tibet Museum's exile-history rooms, and the Tibetan quarter's market lanes on Temple Road and Jogibara Road. The afternoon closes at the Illiterati Cafe, McLeodganj's bookshop-cafe institution, before your guide steps away for the evening. Modest dress and a respectful, unhurried pace are the only real requirements.
